Despite the progress made in the global south over the past 20 years, Western education continues to be revered and idolized. Countries like India have many times more colleges than they had; the private sector in these countries has jumped on the bandwagon. Forget colleges; there are learning academies too. I myself took a postgraduate course remotely for a fraction of the cost (10%) that I would have incurred had I gone to the US (with no compromise on the faculty). As I read your article, I was saddened by the fact that countries in the west have moved on and are treating education as a business, while some of us in the third world are still worshipping these false gods.
