Its possible that the Democratic party is now a loosely held hodge-podge of ideas and beliefs which squeeze uncomfortably for space in a crowded isle. The far left (not communist) but socialist ideas, appeal to some but there are swing voters and those in the middle that are not happy with these huge budget deficits. Then there is the Black Lives Matter movement, the Woke Movement and a whole bunch of unaddressed social ills over the last few lifetimes. Environmentalism is normally at odds with capitalism (which is why Obama's $90 billion green deal saw a few croppers) and even here too you have some of the loudest voices. When you have such a large demography of interests under a single tent, there are bound to be prioritization issues - deciding what to do first and whom to punch first, especially since the Democratic party has been in a fire-fighting more since election.
